IRVING, Texas: 16 May 2008 - Due to a recent Austin burglary spike, Brink’s Home Security put together a highly beneficial list of Austin home security tips for residents and business owners, to help ensure their safety and protection at all times.
There are a number of simple, easily implemented Austin, Texas home security tips that can make your home or business significantly safer:
- Establish a good relationship with your neighbors and ask them to keep a close watch on your home if you have to be away for an extended period of time.
- If you travel on business or vacation, make sure that you temporarily suspend all home deliveries or have someone pick up your mail and newspaper for you if they are home-delivered.
- Trim bushes. This reduces a burglar’s opportunity to hide behind shrubs if attempting a break-in.
- In addition to your interior Austin home security system, install outdoor lighting and motion sensor lights. Burglars do not want to be seen. Sensor lights are a good prevention measure.
- Even when running a short errand from your home, remember to lock the doors when leaving.
